Dealer Fees & Other Non Government Charges (Georgia)
Did the dealer tack
on other fees above and beyond the price of the car? Well, be sure to give them
this handy brochure! Extra dealer fees on new or used cars are illegal.
Advertised vehicle prices must include all nongovernment charges that a consumer is required to pay in order to purchase a vehicle, including but not limited to, dealer fees, previously installed dealer options, and electronic titling fees. Only taxes, tag, title, and Lemon Law fees may be added to this price. This pricing requirement extends to any advertised price in any medium. Contact the GA Department of Law regarding any Fair Business Practices Act violation of the above. So if they advertise a car for $5,000, only government charges can make it more than that. See also the Ad Valorum Calculator to make sure the dealer is not inflating your title fees!
