This nonprofit organization works with teen moms and expecting teens in Gwinnett
and Forsythe counties. They provide
moms with car safety seats and other baby supplies and also offer classes on
good parenting. Callers who need
assistance with employment, food, Medicaid and shelter will be referred to other
agencies that can help them.

CASA’s goal is to interrupt the cycle of abuse and neglect and to quickly
provide the child with a safe and permanent home.
CASA volunteers undergo FBI
screening, and substantial training (40
hours of pre-service training, then 12 hours of annual training) to speak as an
independent voice in juvenile court deprivation proceedings for a child.

This Non-profit agency that places abused or neglected children in a temporary
home with foster parents

Provides short-term care in people’s homes for children at risk of being
abused or neglected and whose parents need respite.
They may be children of drug addicts who need a month of care while their
mothers are in drug treatment or children of homeless parents who need temporary
quarters.

This non-profit organization gives free help to sexually abused children and
those children suspected of being abused. To
qualify the child must either reside or have been abused in Fulton or DeKalb
county. Where there is strong
evidence of abuse but no disclosure, the child will be interviewed in a child
friendly environment by a trained psychotherapist.
This agency also offers support groups for the non-offending parent and
weeks to months of free therapy for the child.

learning disability programs. They
also advocate for state and local legislation to protect children.

They give advice on parenting, and how to identify and prevent
substance abuse, sexual abuse and child abuse.

take referrals only from physicians,
police or DFACS. Medicaid and most insurance plans are accepted and clinic funding may be available to further cut down costs.

deals with a wide array of mental and emotional issues including drug and sex
abuse. Most referrals come from the courts, DFACS or clinics but
private referrals and insurance are also accepted.

The Clinic operates a special outpatient drug treatment program for pregnant
women and women with children. The
goal is to improve children’s lives by getting their mothers off drugs. Babies can receive food, clothing, toys and other baby
supplies, while the moms are provided with things like toiletries, shoes and
back-to-work clothing.
