Community of organizations with chapters nationwide that help with outreach, immigration problems and lobbying for immigrant friendly legislation. They sponsor a news and entertainment program on WPXA TV 14 every Friday at 9:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.  

Raksha, Inc. (404) 876-0670
Social service help group for South Asians i.e. immigrants from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bhutan.  They help with family violence issues, immigration problems, adjustment and assimilation issues and give group referrals for divorce.  Raksha also coordinates with police  and other family violence programs so they can become more sensitive to the needs of these ethnic groups.  Make sure to  leave a message and someone will get back to you.

Immigrants and refugees are provided with employment, financial support, individual and family counseling and other vital social services.  They even mediate landlord-tenant disputes. Translating and interpreting can be provided in Russian, Ukrainian and Slavic languages.

Georgia Asylum and Immigration Network (GAIN) 404-572-2607
Provides free legal representation and pro bono referrals to individuals seeking asylum, T-Visa, U-Visa, or VAWA relief by matching their cases with volunteer attorneys in the metro-Atlanta community. They also provide pro bono legal representation to asylum seekers and immigrant victims of human trafficking, domestic violence, sexual assault and other crimes through direct representation and pro bono referrals.

CCA’s Immigration Legal Services provides assistance to immigrants, refugees and those seeking asylum in the United States. They help individuals and families obtain legal status, assist clients with the naturalization process and provide legal representation during deportation proceedings. They also specialize in assisting survivors of domestic violence, abandoned or neglected foreign children, detained clients and victims of trafficking and crimes.

They provide help information for immigrants in many languages and also have a shelter for battered women immigrants.  They offer services in the following languages: Russian. Bosnian, Polish, Vietnamese, Indian (Several Dialects), Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Nepalese, Spanish, Korean, Chinese, Arabic And French.

REMEMBER: if a particular agency can't help you, they still may know of others that can.  Before hanging up, make sure you ask about other groups that can assist you.

This women's group provides volunteers and money to organizations in need. To be eligible for assistance, groups must first fill out an application.  Members work to aid the homeless, hungry, abused, ill and illiterate, with special emphasis on combating teen pregnancy.
